Rocken Rob is is wearing a pin stripe wearing a pinstripe Ermenegildo Zegna suit and a white dress shirt and a black tie
Interviewer: I am join by well renowned wrestling promoter, producer and president, now you started wrestling in BAWF and then went on to form NGW with Firebomb, How did that start.
RR: BAWF was part of a group of promoters in EHWF it was a regional promotion that ran regular shows in cities including Fresno, Las Vegas, Oakland, San Jose, and Sacramento we taped TV at studio facilities located on Miner Avenue in Stockton with about 50 to 100 people there and out live events we did around 1,000 to 5,000 people. Well Firebomb went on to tour Japan and saw garbage hardcore wrestling and he thought it would work in San Francisco. So with Angelo’s money and blessing Firebomb purchased the bay area rights of Oakland and San Francisco and started NGW. We had no TV, we did out main shows at Hungry I what was a a midsize nightclub that Angelo owned and we did live events and VHS tapings.
Interviewer: VHS Tapings, how long did that last before firebomb went to the bayou.
RR: He did Sin City wrestling first and then some small tours of one offs in Japan and Mexico before that But How NGW was shut down was to many injuries and the shows were making 1000 to 3000 dollars and we were losing money and Firebomb just moved on.
Interviewer: when did you start personally managing firebomb and handling his contacts
RR: In the bayou and but it was regional promotion so at first the money wasn’t good it was just moving expenses and travel allowances, his pay was base on his place of the card and the building size he made anywhere from 50 bucks a show to 1000 a show, now when he became bigger and the promotion was doing good he was making a 35,000 base plus his pay.
Interviewer: who was it that contacted you about Firebomb going to ML.
RR: It was X and Ryan who talked to Firebomb and then told me to talk because of his WFWA dates from MCW and the Bayou so I knew when he was free and had to work with Them on buying out the local promoters dates and his pay.
Interviewer: is that why Firebomb worked some Bayou dates and ML.
RR: Yea Firebomb ML deal gave him 100 k for 3 dates a month with bonuses and merch and 25 K for buyout dates. So he had to work some dates in the bayou and also the bayou PPV’s paid good cause you got cable money plus show money.
Interviewer: Now you took over a office job now did the boys give you or Firebomb heat.
RR: No, but it came at the time they wanted ML to move forward and me and Joe Reid were set to do that.
Interviewer: why did ML fall apart?
RR: Name it the boys not wanting to work, Shawn and Joe going at each other the booking sucked Joe booked a hardcore match when it should have been a regular match, Telling the champ how to work it was just a disaster.
Interviewer: Now after ML shuts down the title was leased out and then that lease deal ended and yet you showed up on XWA TV with the ML World championship challenged Shawn to match and yet nothing happen, Why and what was supposed to happen.
RR: Firebomb and Ric Flash were the XWA tag team champions, and at the time XWA has two groups the XWA elite and the young guns. Well Ric and Fire didn’t fit in any group so we came up with ill use the ML world tile has a prop and challenge Shawn for him to take the belt. I would of jobbed to Shawn make him the last ML champ ever, cause the reboots were never thought of at the time. Shawn who was contacted to NEW would work open dates as A 3rd wheal to Flash and Firebomb there manger maybe 3 man tags and then you have a 3rd group. But XWA ran the first part of the angle and then dropped it boy did XWA screwed that one up.
Interviewer: How did you become a WpW board member?
RR: Firebomb needed a babysitter!
Interviewer: Really.
RR: Ryan talked to firebomb about coming back after 4 years off. Firebomb is a wild child with a lot of drug use. And my job was to make sure it was limited, and he was under control, So that’s how I became a board member.
Interviewer: you did segment and producer work for Both ML:XL and WpW did anyone ever had issues with your matches or work.
RR: There was some but nothing major heat wise.
Interviewer: Any ideas that were rejected.
RR: Lots of them one idea was after the Roy Lee Rumble where Firebomb was finishing to 2nd to Shawn. And Powerstyke was forming since no one thought that those two were the final 2 where to be Firebomb and Shawn was turning heel and Firebomb was not turning face but still having a feud with Lilly and Grendel, so they were turning heel and thought someone else was going to be 2nd but Firebomb kicked ass and did well, and I propose that Shawn still turn heel but team with Firebomb and battle Lilly and Grendel they nixed that. Also I proposed that Jamar would be a office stiff and on screen camera president of WPW.
Interviewer: You took over as producer at Wrestlval 5, now that when the whole next level bit started and Tommy Powers was sent home at that time, who did that and did you have any input.
RR: My job was to produce an already booked event, Ryan sent Tommy home, because he was worried that a shoot was going to happen, and then he and a former Wpw Worker were using wpw contacts to start Next level.
Interviewer: After WPW you went to work at UWC booking there Saturday night show, How easy was it you left after they did the split.
RR: It made my job harder to book Saturday night, first off we did late night at 11:30 Pm competing with Saturday night live 2 staff members and a budget of 300 bucks a show now when I left and carter took over he pretaped the shows what was not working, so the increased his budget and allowed him to do live shows and a budget of 5,000 bucks that increased to 45,000 a show that he could hire Firebomb and PCSA to produce the shows.
Interviewer: Now you went to SX and Firebomb was booking and help produce UWC Saturday night he worked on Heat how was that allowed.
RR: because Firebomb didn’t have a UWC contract, UWC hired Firebomb and his PCSA to produce a show with UWC staff So firebomb could work in SX and the only reason why he worked the UWC matches was because they were short on People.
Interviewer: Back in ML, there was rumors of Cissy Miyas and Firebomb were involved and the rumors some turned out to be true others have been denied by all and there some that one says its true and the other says its not. Where their fist fights between SST and Firebomb
RR: I think when he found out there was more heat between SST and Cissy then Fire and him, did they have pull apart. Not that I remember, but then again she also did something with Shawn during that whole thing. So did they have tension yea but were they not able to be in the same room or work together no.
